God’s Garden

Home > Gems & Jewels > God’s Garden

home-pictures-0011Samuel Rutherford said, “God has many flowers, but the fairest of them all is heaven and the flower of all flowers is Christ.”  Which of earth’s joys is better than her flowers?  God has given us all things richly to enjoy!  Only from heaven can we expect “pleasure forever more,” and “everlasting joy.”   The Rose of Sharon blooms through all the ages, and the Lily of the Valley, which is Jesus Christ himself, outlasts all time.   We can gather heart’s ease in God’s garden.

The flowers of the field are children’s adornments:  Forget-me-nots, buttercups and daisies were made for child’s play but Jesus bids our souls to act a nobler part.  We are to seek the Bliss which does not fade away.  If we turn to God through Christ, we will have exceeding joy now and later; one day we will be caught up with the Rosebud in our hearts of a life which will open to perfection in the land where fading and withering are things unknown!
