Several months ago, from the pulpit of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, I delivered a message from Gen. 1 on the significance of human beings being created in the Image of God and it’s direct relationship to the words in the Decalaration of Independence, “[all men] are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness…” I stressed the outrage that all Christians who understand this truth should have against this trend to elevate the importance and superiority of the environment over that of human beings.

I proposed that the “Global Warming” issue was a fraud (note that they are now calling it “Global Climate Change”, as though there is no more warming trend), being led by men and women who “deny the truth” of God’s peculiar goodness in creating humans as the creatures to “have dominion over” all of creation. They have traded in the worship of the Creator for that which was created since the Fall. No where is this more evident than in the on going struggle around the world to tax and penalize human beings for living, and breathing, and procreating, and having “dominion” over creation.

At the time, it may have seemed over the top. However, I am sad to share with all right now, the truth that is the weight that breaks the heart of every true patriot and lover of freedom in our country. Pres. Obama is to attend a Convention in Copenhagen in December. At this convention, Pres. Obama, as well as multiple leaders of foreign countries, are proposing a treaty that strips people of the liberty to be what God has created us to be!

This is a nearly 200 page treaty to wipe the thoughts of liberty from the minds of the people, not only of our country, but every nation. In the exact words of the treaty to be signed, “The scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention will be based on three basic pillars: government; facilitative mechanism; and financial mechanism…”
It continues to say that the basic organization will be a government. That “government (note that it does not say “governments”) will be ruled by the COP (Conference of the Parties) with the support of a new subsidiary body…”
The role of “the government” will be to put into place the “financial mechanism” which will “include a multilateral climate change fund” in order to compensate third world countries for being a free and industrious country. As Reuters reported, “Developed nations will also have to come up with billions of dollars in climate aid and green technologies for the poor.”

That “government’s” other responsibility will be “to facilitate the design, adoption and carrying out of public policies, as the prevailing instrument, to which the market rules and related dynamics should be subordinate, in order to assure the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention.”

If taxing us to pay for the livelihood of foreign countries is not immoral and theft of the grandest scope, than there is not such a thing on this planet as private property or theft! If a free people suffer patiently under our supposed free government, a long train of abuses which lead us down the road toward absolute despotism, then what can we look forward to under a committee of foreign dictators? Could we believe that we will be able to petition this committee for a redress of grievances, when many of these foreign leaders deal tyrannically towards their own people? Shall our children’s children look back on this present generation as giving them up freely to slavery and despotism?

It is a Tyrant indeed whose ambition drives him to believe he has the power to sign away the liberty of the multitudes for his own legacy. Let us hope and pray that our President, the leader of the greatest country on the earth, is not such a person. We must call upon God and our Senators and Congressmen. We must call upon each other to act!

George Washington warned us in his Farewell Address that, “Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence… the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government.” It is my prayer and our duty my fellow patriots and friends and countrymen. Now, is not the time for rest. Let us be “constantly awake!” As Thomas Paine wrote, “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

Now, it is time for Christians to stand up! The basic rights of all people to be what God created us to be is at stake! If we loose the protection of our countries freedom, world evangelism will be hindered. If we are taxed for reasons like this, certain lawful assemblies will become outlawed. The first amendment includes the right to assemble as well as freedom of speech and religion. When people are seen as the hiderance to the planet, they can no longer be protected as the pinnacle of God’s creation and targets of His peculiar love.
