Comfort and Joy!

“What a lovely day it was to take a long stroll and capture the last days of  the Fall season with my camera.  Now I was walking along quite briskly while going past a long stretch of woods.  I’m still amazed that I happened to glance at the right moment into the woods.  What in the world was I looking at?  I stopped!  What was that little thing nestled down at the base of a large tree?  I walked slowly over to the tree and to my utter amazement crouched down so little and helpless at the base of the big tree was a tiny little kitten no older than four weeks of age.  It was a long-haired calico kitten so scared and pitiful looking–it looked like some varmint had tried to seize the little thing and it showed signs of having escaped with it’s life as hair was missing on its little legs.

I reached down and picked the tiny little one up and talked to it while I walked toward home.  ‘Little one,’ I said, ‘you are no longer alone; I’m here to help you.’  I took the little one home with me and got on the phone and called a kitty rescue.  I knew this tiny little one needed medical help.  A friend drove me out of town to a place called ‘Angel’s Wish.’   I cuddled the little one in a towel to keep it warm.  It needed its mother and was so distraught!  I was going to see that this kitten got the best medical care and love that it desperately needed.  I have never given any thought to ever owning a cat.  But God used this little kitten to open my eyes and my heart.  During the week I couldn’t get the little thing out of my mind.  I even named her Missy.  By the end of the week, I  came to the conclusion that I would call the kitty rescue to let them know that I would adopt the kitten when she would become available.  To my surprise, I found out that someone on the veterinary staff had already adopted that precious little animal.”
