One reason why people today are insecure is that they have no clear mental picture of life.  They do not know where they came from, where they are going, why they are here, or what they are supposed to be doing.  This is reflected in the way they act:  in drunkenness, vandalism, graffiti, peculair styles of dress and hair, anarchy, and senseless behavior.  This behavior is often self-destructive and sinful, but it also reflects the agonized cries of immortal souls in a world they do not understand and yet crave to know.

People today are desperately searching for a sense of belonging, although they may not say so.  They are also not conscious of being the victims of spiritual ignorance.  But their continual recklessness and antisocial behavior are evidence of their insecurity, which is due to their uncertainty about the nature of the biblical view of life.  They need to be told that life on earth is very short and that heaven exists but only for the righteous, and that hell exists, and we need to escape from it.
